SOCKI.IE — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 July 2026

Socki.ie operates this store and website, including all related information, content, features, tools, products and services, in order to provide you, the customer, with a curated shopping experience (the "Services"). Socki.ie is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information when you visit, use, or make a purchase or other transaction using the Services or otherwise communicate with us. If there is a conflict between our Terms & Conditions and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy controls with respect to the collection, processing and disclosure of your personal information.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using and accessing any of the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy and understand the collection, use and disclosure of your information as described here.

Personal information we collect or process

When we use the term "personal information," we mean information that identifies or can reasonably be linked to you or another person. It does not include information collected anonymously or that has been de-identified. Depending on how you interact with the Services, where you live, and as permitted or required by applicable law, we may collect or process:

  • Contact details including your name, billing and shipping address, phone number and email address.
  • Financial information including credit/debit card and payment account numbers, payment card information, transaction details, form of payment, and payment confirmations.
  • Account information including your username, password, preferences and settings.
  • Transaction information including items you view, add to cart or wishlist, and items you purchase, return, exchange or cancel.
  • Communications with us, for example when you send a customer support enquiry.
  • Device information including your device, browser, network connection, IP address and other unique identifiers.
  • Usage information including how and when you interact with or navigate the Services.

Personal information sources

We may collect personal information: directly from you (when you create an account, use the Services, or communicate with us); automatically through the Services and through cookies and similar technologies; from our service providers; and from our partners or other third parties.

How we use your personal information

  • Provide, tailor and improve the Services — to perform our contract with you, process your payments, fulfil your orders, manage your account, arrange shipping, handle returns and exchanges, enable reviews, and personalise your experience.
  • Marketing and advertising — to send promotional communications by email, text or post, and to show you relevant online advertisements, where you have not opted out.
  • Security and fraud prevention — to authenticate your account, provide a secure payment and shopping experience, and detect or prevent fraudulent, illegal or malicious activity.
  • Communicating with you — to provide customer support and maintain our business relationship.
  • Legal reasons — to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, and enforce our terms and policies.

How we disclose personal information

In certain circumstances we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes, including:

  • With Shopify and other vendors and processors who perform services on our behalf — for example IT management, payment processing, including PayPal and Klarna, data analytics, customer support, cloud storage, fulfilment and shipping (including An Post and DPD).
  • With Klarna specifically: where you choose Klarna as your payment method, Klarna processes your personal information (which may include identity, contact and credit-related information, and may involve eligibility or credit checks) as an independent controller under Klarna's own privacy notice. Your payment agreement in that case is directly with Klarna.
  • With business and marketing partners to provide marketing services and personalised advertising, in accordance with their own privacy notices. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to direct us not to share information for targeted advertising.
  • When you direct or consent to disclosure, such as to ship products to you or through your use of social media widgets or login integrations.
  • In connection with a business transaction, to comply with legal obligations, or to protect and defend our rights and those of our users.

Relationship with Shopify

The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your access to and use of the Services in order to provide and improve them. Information you submit may be transmitted to and shared with Shopify and third parties that may be located in countries other than where you reside. Shopify may also use certain enhanced features incorporating data from your interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify. In these circumstances, Shopify is responsible for the processing of your personal information. To learn more, see the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and the Shopify Privacy Portal.

Third-party websites and links

The Services may link to websites operated by third parties. If you follow such links, you should review their privacy and security policies. We do not guarantee and are not responsible for the privacy, security or content of those sites. Our inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement.

Children's data

The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information about children under the age of majority in your jurisdiction. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, please contact us to request its deletion. As of the effective date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we "share" or "sell" personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Security and retention

No security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and information you send us may not be secure in transit. Please do not use unsecure channels to send us sensitive or confidential information. How long we retain your personal information depends on factors such as whether we need it to maintain your account, provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our contracts and policies.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal information: the right to access/know, to delete, to correct, and to portability. You can also manage communication preferences — you may opt out of promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link, though we may still send non-promotional emails about your account or orders.

If you reside in the UK or European Economic Area, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing for certain purposes, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal).

You may exercise these rights by contacting us using the details below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We may need to verify your identity first, and you may use an authorised agent (with proof of authorisation) where permitted by law.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about how we process your personal information, please contact us using the details below. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Ireland, this is the Data Protection Commission (www.dataprotection.ie).

International transfers

We may transfer, store and process your personal information outside the country you live in. Where we transfer personal information out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on recognised transfer mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, unless the transfer is to a country determined to provide an adequate level of protection.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised policy on this website, update the "Last updated" date, and provide notice where required by law.
